Sunday, October 30th, we celebrated the Mexican tradition of Day of the Dead at the Peabody Museum of Harvard. We also congratulated our eighth graders who made sculptures for this event. Although it was hard, we learned to see the positive side of something sad, the loss of a loved one. We discussed as a group how it’s ok to be sad, but important to be happy to have met and spent time with someone that was so important in one’s life. Honoring this belief and tradition, some students made skeletons inspired by the pompous Katrina by José Posada. Others depicted skeletons enjoying everyday activities, like doing a handstand, but in the afterlife.
