Reading self-selected independent books is a core component of developing our individual skills, preferences, and reading strengths. Using the strategies and knowledge about author’s craft that we develop through reading model texts together in class, students apply their new expertise in their own independent reading through discussion, response writing, creative writing, and critique writing. In this issue, two students reviewed I Am Princess X and Thin Wood Walls. Check out these and future reviews for recommendations from our expert readers!
