ScienceWhat do you get when you mix sulfur, tungsten, and silver? SWAG! In Science the seventh grade has been learning about chemistry. What is a chemical reaction? How can we tell that a reaction has taken place? How can we model what goes on at the molecular level when new substances are formed? We are exploring these questions and many others as we progress through our first of four units. Our lab-based activities have involved different types of chemical processes, including electrolysis, combustion, dissolution, and evaporation. We now understand that some of these processes create new substances, while others do not. In the coming weeks, we will make soap and practice our persuasive skills by constructing a scientific argument using our soap-making observations.
