Continued Focus on our School Improvement Plan, 2014- 2016
Posted on 01/12/2015

This year, the process of defining and revising our school improvement plan continues. As I mentioned, in my last letter to families, we have five initiatives, which provide a focus to our work and practice. Naturally, we are all working on instructional practice to improve student challenge and performance in many content and language areas, however, these are the focus goals:

  1. Increasing the number of students who arrive to school on time and the attendance rate of students;
  2. Strengthening our two-way communication with families and community members;
  3. Improving the achievement in Math of students in the High Needs category, in grades 4 -8;
  4. Improving the achievement in ELA of students in the High Needs category, in grades 4 – 8;
  5. Planning and articulation of the Spanish to English language ratio in the JrK and K classrooms to improve students’ communicative and reading skills in Spanish.

***(High Needs students are those students who are classified into at least one of the following groups: students with disabilities, students from families who receive free or reduced lunch, and students who are considered to be English Language Learners).

The Instructional Leadership team (ILT), continues to review the Action Plans of each initiative. The SIP plan has been shared with the School Council, faculty and stakeholders, but we will continue to provide updates through the year as we make continued revisions to the plans, based on continued discussion, progress monitoring and feedback.
